Job Title: Field Application Engineer (FAE)

Job Summary :

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) is a technical liaison between the Sales/Product development teams and the Redpine customers. The FAE presents Redpine solutions, understand customer system requirements and suggest right solutions. The FAE is the primary contact for customers on all technical questions or issues during evaluation, integration and production phases. The FAE is expected to travel to provide on-site customer support.

Job Responsibilities
  • Present Redpine solutions to customers and work with Sales to identify and secure new business
  • Understand customer application requirements and suggest appropriate solutions
  • Present technical advantages and differentiations of Redpine products to customers
  • Support customers during evaluation, integration, prototype, certification, and production phases of their product development
  • Create and provide technical training to customers, sales representatives and distributors as well as internal sales team
  • Create application notes and write articles
  • Create reference applications and product demonstrations using Redpine's wireless solutions
  • This position may require travel within the US to provide on-site customer support
Desired Skills and Experience:
Mandatory Skills and Experience:
  • Strong system design understanding (preferably in industrial, medical or consumer markets)
  • Experience in interaction with customers on technical and other areas
  • Good system and software debugging skills on embedded platforms
  • Basic programming experience in C/C++ required
  • Knowledge of standard bus interfaces (SDIO, USB, SPI, UART etc.)
  • Good understanding of wireless technologies like 802.11(Wi-Fi), or Bluetooth or Zigbee and applications
  • Technical knowledge of embedded system application development

Preferred Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of standard operating systems as Linux/Android, Windows
  • Experience with microcontrollers – 8/16/32 bit including ARM based devices
  • Familiarity with lab equipment like logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators

Job Description :

Redpine Signals, Inc. seeks an Engineering Manager, Wireless Physical Layer to plan, direct and coordinate all Radio Frequency (RF) and Baseband engineering activities, including managing 2 Lead Engineers in the US and monitor the work of 10 engineering professionals abroad to develop core physical layer of all Redpine’s products, including Digital Baseband and Analog/RF of new and existing chipsets.

Specific duties include: :
  • Manage all engineering activities on Redpine’s Physical layer chipset products, including directing and supervising professional engineers through entire product development from customer sampling, technical reviews, approval of design changes and product delivery;
  • Establish engineering standards and processes and procedures to manage technical work;
  • Assess engineering feasibility and define the milestones, resources, and dates for Baseband (BBP), Analog Mixed Signal (AMS) and Radio Frequency (RF) projects and track them on a periodic basis to ensure that chip tape-out and customer deliverable deadlines are met;
  • Hire, manage and direct qualified Engineers and Project Leads as required, including RF Design and RF, ESD expert reviews, ASIC backend, Package Design and ASIC Manufacturing Test Engineers using ATE;
  • Conduct annual reviews of direct reports and provide technical guidance and feedback on technical work and performance;.
  • Make presentations on the project deliverables progress and highlight risks to executive management;
  • Interface with prospective customers to demonstrate upcoming products and collect requirements for next generation chips;
  • Manage the patent applications for Redpine’s technologies by cooperating and interfacing with the company’s patent lawyer in the US and the innovators; and,
  • Attend international standards groups and conferences (i.e. IEEE 802 working group, the Wi-Fi Alliance, ISSCC, etc); and prepare and present Redpine’s technologies.
